These are excellent points. Obsession with time analysis wastes time. Obsession with waste elimination creates waste.

We must improve time savings and reduce waste, but we must be smart about it and do it efficiently. There are excessive reports, excessive procedures, excessive lists, and excessively complex systems. There are excessive demands for employees to generate more waste ideas and more reports, so that management can put these things on their lists. And as a result, there is excessive time spent at work that is not productive.

All of these things may give the appearance to management that a lot is happening, when in reality these things are creating large amounts of waste, hurting employee morale, and increasing turnover.

We must focus on what is actually important for LG, not just how we can make things appear to upper management.

Hope this is read by all team leaders, since some of the "waste elimination" activities actually are waste! such as: daily meetings / reports, etc.

Mr. Nam, I agree with you...but the main issue is the "mind-set" change of upper management and/or FSC's. If this does not change, all of the hardwork that is being communicated to us, will not work...and as far as I see it...currently everyone from under manager and below is very disgruntal...
You can not continueously ask people to do more and MORE with nothing in return! This seems to be the LG Way...over-load the employee's, those of whom can not handle it, will leave, and we will get others. That is why there is A HUGE TURN AROUND RATE HERE IN THE NJ!

Mr. Nam, this company can be SO GREAT, ONE OF THE BEST TO WORK FOR, (it REALLY-REALLY CAN - I have seen "sparks of it around", but it does not allow it's self to LET GO of the past, or allow trust among people...it's very sad...VERY SAD.

Mr. Nam...I know upper management does not want to hear this, but the BIGGEST WASTE ELIMINATION PROJECT NEEDED IS ~ THE M-SYSTEM! The ENTIRE STRUCTURE of our IT System (M-System) takes a VERY LONG TIME to process a return - is OVER ONE HOUR, and if you even try to work on antoher thing, your entire system shuts down.

If they want us to have a waste elimination project that the ENTIRE COMPANY can work on...WELL THIS IS IT...WASTEFUL, WASTE OF TIME, MONEY, AND TALENT OF THE PEOPLE (and all of the money LG is wasiting on GREAT TALENT being wasted as well) who work on this ANCIENT "TYPE" of system.

Then maybe we can move forward, and take over our rightful place of being the #1 Manufacturer in the US!!! We CAN DO IT...but we don't allow it to occur, UNLESS THE MIND-SET OF THOSE WHO MAKE DECISION'S CHANGE - ONCE AND FOR ALL!!!
