External Manufacturing

Blog doesn't work for this October 27 issue when Top 3 Worldwide is received by email in LGEP or Outlook. Clicking on "Make a Comment" takes you to last week's issue from October 20 instead of blog.

October 27 issue should be #43 but it says #42 at top and #42 in email subject line. October 20 issue should be #42 but it says #41 at top. October 13 issue is correct and says #41 at top.

The only way that I was able to leave a comment in the blog this week was by going to the LG web site for back issues and clicking on issue 43, then clicking on "Make a Comment".

As I checked rhe situation it is true that when we click the comment it goes to last issue. Unfortunately as the mail has already sent please go to Top3 Worlwide home page(http://erec.lge.co.kr/sys/temp/main.htm) and go to Issue 43 and click the comment again. It will access to right comment.

External manufacturing is risky because the quality and reliability often are not as good. Quality and reliability of products is very important to USA customers. That's why Toyota succeeded in USA market. If LG goes to external manufacturing and the quality and reliability are not as good, LG will lose major market share in USA - like happened with Goldstar in the past with poor quality and reliability in the USA.

External manufacturing can be very valuable - but only if it is coupled with stringent quality control. LGEUS has already cut down on quality inspections and is having problems with LCDTV quality and reliability. The cost of inspections is small when compared to the market share we can lose due to a poor reputation.
