One Team with Goals and Aspirations

Once again I believe that our CEO has great ideas and direction! I have worked for LG Electronics in the United States for over 3 years and we are unfortunately going backwards in our management. We talk a great story, but then the real company kicks in; we are a Korean company trying to run a business in the United States the Korean way! This is not a Global company; we lack the drive to localize. We are a Korean company working very hard to become Global, but never will, as long as we continue to be directed by FSE’s, who don’t have the same vision as our CEO!

I fully agree with the view. Long ago our CEO said that we should communicate in english. I never see that happen. Even now e-mails are exchanged in English and all korean employees in my team speak in Korean while I am around. Only when someone is made part of team will he/she feel proud of team.

Korean management requires non-Koreans to attend meetings where everyone speaks in Korean. Often nobody has the courtesy to translate to English. Sometimes it is necessary to use Korean to communicate in a meeting or conference call, especially on technical issues. But it should always be translated to English immediately.
