I completely agree with you. We must empower our people. Also, what I always tells to me team is: "Don't let the email determine their day. Because is very easy to get absorbed by all the requests one can receive through the mail. We should have determined periods during the day to revise mails, use the color flags in Outlook to prioritize the responses, and then stick to your daily plan". Another thing is unnecesary reporting, but this is another topic I am sure you will refer in future postings.
